Synopsis:
Like to understand more about the stories of the Bible? Like to understand how the whole story of the Bible hangs together across two testaments? Wondering why we can trust the Bible from external and internal proofs? This ten session series allows you to use the tools, techniques and strategies from “Learn to Read the Bible” to explore the Story of the Bible.

Aims & Goals:

• Our main goal is for you to enjoy learning about the Bible so we aim to make the learning environment relaxed, interesting and fun.
• Identify and summarise key events in the Story of the Bible Timeline.
• Using the Learn to Read the Bible Framework, identify some key themes which run through the Bible from the Old to New Testament.
• Identify external and internal proofs which support the validity of the Bible text.

Methods: This course is largely presentation based with approximately 30% of time spent applying what you learn with interesting group or individual exercises. Participants will never be put “on the spot” and participation in exercises is optional.

What will be expected of me? As with any course, “you get out what you put in” so the more you participate the more you will get out of the course. This may involve reading materials between classes or participating in discussion. Again, these things are optional for you.

Some Topics Covered:

• 2 nights on “The Bible Fact or Fantasy” looking at internal (e.g. prophecy that has been fulfilled) and external (e.g. archaeology, history, medicine) which support the validity of the Bible record.
• 7 nights dealing with the periods of; Adam & Eve to Noah, Noah to Abraham, Abraham to Joshua, Joshua to King David, King Solomon to Nehemiah, Jesus, The Acts and the letters of the New Testament.
• 1 night on prophecy about the future.
